Elizabeth Grant-Douglas: Associate Winemaker, La Crema WineryElizabeth Grant-Douglas joined La Crema just before the 2001
harvest. A native of the Niagara region, she was among the first
graduates of Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and
Viticulture Institute. As one would expect, Elizabeth has always
been drawn to the challenges of winemaking in cooler regions. Her
experience and specialized education give her unique perspective on
the rigors of grape growing and winemaking in Northern California.
Elizabeth’s career path began in Canada at wineries including
Inniskillin, Château des Charmes and Thirteenth Street, before
heading to Columbia Crest in Washington State and finally to Sonoma
County. There she was drawn to the Russian River Valley where ideal
growing conditions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay make it a home of
world class wines. At La Crema, a winery specifically designed for
the gentle hand crafting of these classic Burgundian varietals, she
enjoys working with grapes from four very different and uniquely
rewarding appellations, the Sonoma Coast, Russian River, Los
Carneros and Anderson Valley.
