Anvil claims to be a “bar and refuge” for those seeking the rare and long-lost art of the cocktail.  They could not be more correct.  Here, in an old former tire shop, the floor to ceiling shelves displays every possible spirit, bitters, and accompaniment ever shaken, poured, or stirred into a cocktail.  The focus here is on the classics of days gone by like a Gin Fizz with Angostura Bitters or a “Vieux Carre”, a cocktail invented in 1938 by Walter Bergeron, the head bartender at the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans.  The atmosphere is laid back and less about lounging and more about mingling – with a great cocktail in hand of course.
