This place is legendary, especially for their Sunday lunch.  The farm itself is known for producing some of the best Barbarie ducks and Embden geese in Canada and they are one of the most prized providers of local and fresh game in Ottawa.  Located a short 40 minute drive through crisp country air from downtown Ottawa, Mariposa is a great getaway from the bustle of the city to enjoy some true locavore cuisine.

The rustic cabin is where guests can enjoy any number of fresh dishes made from items grown on the farm.  Forget 100 mile diet, this is 100 feet diet at its finest.  Duck confit, goose and duck pate, and homemade charcuterie and cheeses make for a delicious afternoon of gastronomy.  This place is eclectic and they attract foodies from Ottawa and Montreal looking for a great day-adventure. As for the farm, the kids will enjoy visiting the chickens, cows, ducks, and geese.  Just be prepared for how you want to immerse them into the food chain, be it before or after lunch.
