Deborah Keegan

Toronto
Deborah trained as a chef at Toronto's George Brown College Chef School and the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners (ICIF) in Italy’s Piedmont region.  After graduating in 1998, she worked in Italy at Ristorante La Logia (Bassano del Grappa) and Ristorante L’800 (Bologna) and traveled throughout Europe and the UK working and learning as she went.  Returning to Toronto in 2000, Deborah worked in some of Toronto’s best known restaurants, additionally developing a solid reputation as a sought after pastry chef.

Deborah has taught cooking classes at George Brown College’s Continuous Education Chef School and Ontario’s LCBO as a chef instructor.  She has also appeared with Anna Olson on Kitchen Equipped.  Deborah co-founded The City Kitchen (2003-2006) providing in-home cooking classes, catering and culinary tours to Italy.  Prior to becoming a chef Deborah worked in public relations; returning to the industry in 2006 to work with Babble On Communications as a media relations specialist.  She now combines her passion for food with her passion for communicating.  Deborah believes everyone can cook like a chef and her motto is: “Make it simple, explore local, go organic; think global!”
